Unit members have always been known for their willingness to help others, especially those in need.

Recently, a group of Explorers went to Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre, to help out at an adventure camp for Ukranian refugee children. The camp was set up to provide a fun and safe environment for children who have been displaced from their homes due to war and conflict.

The Explorers helped out in a variety of ways, from organizing activities to providing those all-important smiles and “hello”s. They also spent time getting to know the children and learning about their experiences. The Explorers’ presence at the camp provided a sense of stability and security for the children, who have faced unimaginable hardship in their young lives.

The activities at the camp included crate stacking, bread making, and team-building exercises. The Unit members helped to lead these activities, encouraging the children to try new things and push themselves out of their comfort zones. For many of the children, this was their first time participating in such activities, and they were thrilled to have the opportunity to do so.

The Explorers’ involvement in the camp had a profound impact on both the children and the members themselves. For the children, it was a chance to have fun and forget about the hardships they have faced. For the members, it was a chance to make a difference in the lives of others and to learn about a different culture and way of life – even eating traditional Ukranian food all weekend

In the end, the Ukrainian adventure camp was a great success. The Explorers’ dedication and hard work made it possible for the children to have a fun and memorable experience, and the children’s smiles and laughter made it all worth it. The experience also served as a reminder of the importance of helping others and the positive impact that even small acts of kindness can have on those in need.

Thank you!
